Questions and changes: staying in touch with your contractor

Every project has one conversation, and you can join it two ways: type in the chat box at the bottom of your project page, or simply hit reply on any email your contractor sends you. Both land in the same place — pick whichever is in front of you.

From your project page

3. 3Type your message and send. Your contractor's team is notified immediately.

From your email inbox

This is the part people love: you don't need the page at all. Reply to any email from your contractor — the quote, a message, a reminder — and your reply goes straight onto the job's conversation, photos attached and all. Your "Sent from my iPhone" and the quoted text underneath are tidied away automatically.

Good things to know

• You'll see who you're talking to by name — real people at the business, not a bot.
• Attach photos to an email reply and they land on the job for your contractor too.
• Your link stays live after the job is booked — handy for looking up what you paid or asking a follow-up.
• Lost your link? Any email about the job has it. If you truly can't find one, call your contractor and they'll send a fresh link in seconds.
